INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN / COURSE DEVELOPMENT
Instructional Design – Supervised, managed, and acted as instructional designer on the design, development, and maintenance
LMS / Technology - Developed and managed courses in Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, eCollege, and IntraLearn. Additional experience working with publisher courseware – McGraw-Hill Connect, Pearson’s CourseConnect and MyLab suite, etc. Extensive experience with MS Office suite, WorkFront, BaseCamp, Google Products. Some experience with Camtasia and Adobe suite. Teaching - Classroom teaching – 10 years’ experience in higher education and secondary education, face-to-face and online. Distance/Distributed Education - Created courses delivered through a variety of distance education technologies: Polycom Web Conferencing, Television, Online Bulletin Boards, Hyper-Text, Computer Aided Instruction (including video and laser disk) Faculty Training / Coaching - Trained and assisted faculty on use of distance education technologies CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT Accreditation - Extensive experience with accrediting bodies and state education agencies:
Partnerships - Partnered with multiple top tier universities to develop online courses – The George Washington University, George Mason University, California State University System, University of South Florida, University of Chicago, London School of Economics, Carnegie Mellon, Texas A&M, University of Adelaide… Curriculum Analysis and Revision – Extensive experience auditing, analyzing, recommending revisions and implementing changes to program-level curriculum changes.
TEACHING / PRE-SERVICE AND IN-SERVICE EDUCATION Pre-service Teacher Training – I have extensive experience working in curriculum development, classroom instruction, and distance learning initiatives for pre-service teacher training for Southern Illinois University – specifically in the areas of social studies, instructional design in the classroom, and standards based curriculum development and alignment. Middle School Teaching Grant – Managed technology and curriculum development for a federal and state funded grant to improve the quality of technology utilization in middle school classrooms, to better align state standards with existing middle school teaching practices, and to train middle school teachers in curriculum development best practices. Classroom Teaching – I have 5 years of experience teaching pre-service teaching students in social studies methods and a core instructional design methodology course in a face-to-face classroom setting. Accreditation – Over the 2015-2016 academic year I worked closely with the faculty and administrators as Alabama State University to develop and validate their program and online curriculum for their NCATE accreditation review. Online courses we developed with ASU for early childhood and elementary education also complied with NAEYC accreditation requirements, and Alabama state standards. Bachelor’s Degree – My undergraduate degree is in secondary education with an emphasis in social studies education. After I decided to pursue a graduate degree in instructional design, I was asked to teach undergraduate pre-service education students social studies methods, graduate students in instructional design methods in the classroom and I also taught several general education courses for the history department. Counseling and Educational Psychology – In addition to the online and face-to-face experience I have in pre and post-service teacher training, I have also developed a program in school counseling with an emphasis on educational psychology at the master’s and doctoral level. LEADERSHIP / MANAGEMENT Virtual Team Building - Extensive experience supervising virtual cross-functional teams both large (50+ members) and small depending on project type both within the US and internationally (India, Barbados, Philippines, Canada, Singapore).
Staffing – Extensive experience with sourcing, hiring, and HR management of all course development and support staff. PROJECT MANAGEMENT / ADMINISTRATION / PROCESS IMPROVEMENT Process Improvement – Extensive experience developing and implementing effective workflow processes and documentation, project management plans for complex projects, academic scheduling, and content management processes, and analytics.
Budgeting – Extensive experience successfully managing multi-million dollar budgets.
Facility Administration - Directed operations and administration of 32,000 sq. ft. educational facility and all aspects of PGA education at both the Education Center and the Learning Center in Port Saint Lucie, FL. Project Management - Directed project management functions across a variety of complex projects. Including contracting, vendor selection, RFP evaluation, and school and program on-boarding.
